Library FAQ’s

Here are some questions that you may have about the Saegertown Area Library.

Can anyone check out a book?

Anyone with a current library card from any of the Crawford County libraries may check out a book, magazine, CD, or DVD. If you live in Crawford County and have a current ID, you may get a library card. The first card is free.

How long can I keep a book or magazine?

Circulating books and periodicals are checked out for 14 days. If no one has a hold on the item, it can be renewed up to two times for 14 days each.

How much is the fine for an overdue book?

There is a five day grace period before a fine is assessed. There is then a $0.20 per day fine charged to the patron. There is a maximum fine limit of $6.00.

How long can I keep a DVD?

DVDs are checked out for three days. They cannot be renewed. There is a one day grace period, after which a fine of $1.00 per day will be charged.

DVDs and VHS tapes with the orange and white sticker are free and are checked out for one week. They can be renewed.

What if I lose or damage a library book?

You must pay for the book.  The book money (minus the fine) will be returned if the book is found.

What if I lose my library card?

You may purchase a new one for $2.00.
